What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is also called “talking therapy”. It is a way of solving personal problems by talking with someone who is a trained and skilled listener. Psychotherapy is designed to work with emotional problems and often explores early life experiences.

Psychotherapy  sessions are carried out by Franca Mongiardi an experienced psychotherapist

Why have psychotherapy?

Perhaps your problems are starting to affect your relationships and personal life? If you are reading this then perhaps you are wondering if a talking therapy is right for you right now. It’s good to wonder and to explore.

Psychotherapy is designed to enable you to explore your problem and to understand how it has developed to what it is today

What can psychotherapy help with?

Psychotherapy can help with a range of emotional and, sometimes, physical issues (the mind and body are connected) such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Emotional issues and problems
  • Lack of self confidence
  • Emotional trauma
  • Anger management
  • Phobias
  • Health issues

What happens during a psychotherapy session?

The psychotherapy session revolves around talking and is designed to enable you to understand you. This way you can work out the best solution for you.  Each session is approximately 50 to 60 minutes.

Are there any after effects?

The main effect is that you develop a greater understanding of yourself which is very empowering. Sometimes the process of learning about yourself can be emotional and you may experience, for example, feeling tearful. This is emotional release.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on the problem or issue you want to work on. This is discussed at the first session.

Is psychotherapy right for me?

Franca is happy to discuss this with you and answer questions before you make an appointment.
